Element Three: Creativity
The CREATIVITY element discusses the changing educational landscape and the unknown or unpredictable futures faced by our tamariki. We learn about 21st century learners and the skills that can excel in a nature education environment; how learning from nature experiences can transfer in real world skills such as problem solving, creativity, adaptability, and innovation. This workshop helps us to reconnect with our own creative flare (whether you think you have it or not), recognise the beauty of nature’s own creativity and learn how to nurture children’s unique creative strengths.

Experience a professional development workshop in a natural, outdoor setting (Walking the talk). Be surrounded by like-minded learners in a supportive, reflective environment where educators engage in co-operative learning approaches using a mixture of theoretical and practical, hands-on learning.

This workshop focuses on creativity as a fluid and free process and critical way of thinking in the 21st century. We learn how to find creativity in all of us and how to use it as a strength in our practice as Good Natured Educators. Learners will engage in practical activities with loose parts, and natural resources that will encourage us to keep kiwi ingenuity alive, and to create opportunities for our tamariki to problem solve, creatively think and become innovators, designers and creators of their experiences (present and future). We will look at the role nature plays in imaginative play and storytelling, how nature can be used for literacy and numeracy opportunities and to recognised nature as its own work of art and beauty.

Feel inspired and motivated while engaging in 5 hours of small group learning set in nature with a shelter available for protection from adverse weather. (No rain will stop us!).
